A 75-year-old woman remains hospitalized in critical condition after a five-vehicle wreck on the Old Glenrock Highway on Wednesday, a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper said Thursday.

No one has been cited so far in the crash, which is still under investigation, Patrol Lt. Joseph Scimone said.

The collision occurred near a construction site at mile post 176, which is just inside the Converse County line from Natrona County, he said.

The vehicles were eastbound and four were stopped for construction marked by a large sign with yellow lights telling motorists to stop, Scimone said.

"A Ford pickup truck was also traveling eastbound," he said. "The Ford pickup did not hit its brakes and crashed into the Buick LaCrosse and also into a Honda Accord. And in turn the Honda Accord smashed into the two vehicles in front of it as well."

The pickup was traveling about 70 mph, Scimone said.

The crash closed the Old Glenrock Highway -- U.S. Highway 20 -- for three hours, he said. The Converse County Sheriff's Office, Glenrock Police Department and the Wyoming Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

Probably four of the six people in the vehicles were taken to the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, but the 76-year-old woman remains the only patient there, Scimone said.
