Wheatland School Reported Bomb Threat; No Device Was Found
The Wyoming Highway Patrol's Explosive K9 team responded to a call from the West Elementary School in Wheatland about 11:30 a.m. Thursday for a reported bomb threat, according to a news release from the Highway Patrol.
The K-9 team from Cheyenne arrived and deployed their bomb dogs around the campus.
Students and staff were moved to a nearby middle school for safety precautions.
The K-9 team found no suspicious devices, and students and staff returned tot he school about 1:45 p.m.
The Platte County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Wyoming Highway Patrol. The Wheatland Police Department is investigating the threat.
The news release did not indicate if this incident was related to a nationwide bomb hoax targeting businesses and schools. A spokesman for the Highway Patrol did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
