Troopers Conduct Saturation Patrol
Drivers traveling through Converse and Platte Counties on I-25 Monday, Feb. 8 may have noticed an unusually large law enforcement presence in the area.
Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers from Division M along with troopers from adjacent counties as well as Sheriff’s deputies from Converse and Platte Counties conducted a one-day saturation patrol with a focus on highway safety and intervening in criminal activities.
Roughly 15 troopers and deputies, including six K-9 teams, took part in the saturation patrol.
Col. Kebin Haller of the Wyoming Highway Patrol has made a priority of criminal interdiction with a focus on “quality investigations that lead to successful prosecutions.”
The Patrol says criminal interdiction is not limited to drug enforcement. Rather, Haller has emphasized the importance of intervening in situations involving human sex trafficking, national security violations, stolen property, fraudulent documents and impaired drivers.
The saturation patrol resulted in a variety of arrests from warrants to felony and misdemeanor drugs. Heroin, oxycodone and marijuana were seized in different arrests throughout the day.
The Patrol reports that highway safety efforts were successful as troopers investigated only one crash in the two counties that day. The crash involved property damage only and no injuries.
