Snowboarder-Triggered Avalanche Closes Wyoming Pass Highway
JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — Witnesses say two snowboarders triggered an avalanche that partially buried a pickup truck and closed a highway in western Wyoming.
Nobody was hurt but the Wyoming Department of Transportation says Wyoming Highway 22 over Teton Pass will remain closed for several hours after the avalanche Friday morning.
Highway foreman Bruce Daigle says the snow is still unstable.
Brian Siegfried says he was driving on the highway when he saw snow tumbling toward him.
Siegfried says the snow partially buried his truck and he had to crawl out through a window. He says he talked to the snowboarders and confirmed nobody was buried.
