Roughly 36 Crashes Reported on NE Wyoming Highway During Storm
A 20-mile stretch of highway in northeast Wyoming saw roughly three dozen crashes by Wednesday afternoon as a strong spring storm moved through the region.
U.S. Highway 212 was closed most of the day due to the high volume of disabled vehicles, according to a statement from the Wyoming Department of Transportation.
"An estimated two dozen semi-trucks and a dozen passenger cars have either jack-knifed or slid off the road due to limited or no visibility due to heavy snow, strong winds, drifting snow and inexperienced drivers," WYDOT said.
Many of the vehicles had been disabled since late Tuesday night.
WYDOT maintenance staff from Hulett and Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were out to aid motorists and get the road cleared, though there was no indication as to when the highway may reopen.

This story has been corrected to reflect that the closed highway is U.S. 212, not Wyoming Highway 212.
