A new easy-access trail, an additional bridge, and an observation deck for lower sections of Rotary Park could be a reality by the end of the year.

Rotary Club Past President, Bill Schilling, along with engineers working the project presented the plans to Rotary Club members this week. They outlined a vision that also includes a mid-level picnic area and upper observation deck.

Phase one involves adding a bridge and lower deck down stream from the falls.

Schilling says $7000 has been committed toward the cost of the bridge, and as for the rest, "The monies that are raised, the net monies from the Duck Derby, are dedicated to this project for the foreseeable future, being a four or five year period."

Because of steep inclines surrounding the lower falls Schilling emphasizes a need for installation of safe guards.

He says landownership and access questions are being resolved.
