Record Highs Set in Southeast Wyoming Wednesday; Snow on the Way

Wednesday's temperatures were a far cry from last week's deep freeze, with several locations in southeast Wyoming and the Nebraska Panhandle either setting or tying record highs.

"Douglas, Rawlins, and Torrington set new record high temperatures, while Scottsbluff and Sidney tied their previous record," the National Weather Service in Cheyenne said.

Cheyenne and Laramie, which topped out at 64 and 57 degrees respectively, fell just shy of their 13-year-old records.

Yesterday (March 2nd) was a warm and beautiful day across the region! It was so warm in fact, that multiple places saw record high temperatures! Douglas, Rawlins, and Torrington set new record high temperatures, while Scottsbluff and Sidney tied their previous record. Another round of warm temperatures is expected today!

Unfortunately, the warm temperatures won't be sticking around for long, as snow is expected to arrive Friday evening.

5 AM Thursday, March 3rd: A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for much of the area due to potentially heavy and accumulating snow this weekend. Snow will likely begin Friday night and fall through the day on Saturday. The lower elevations could see anywhere from 3 to 6 inches of snow while the mountains could pick up 6 to 12 inches of snow. Be sure to check back for updates to the forecast as the Winter Storm Watch could be extended to areas outside of those that are highlighted!

The Blizzard of March 2021 covered up our driveways, fences, and in some cases porches. It trapped up in our homes and canceled our plans.
