Have you been wondering what the Pathways Innovation Center is all about? The Natrona County School District is holding an open house on April 19th, along with the kickoff of an auction to sell a cabin built by students at P.I.C.. The two bedroom/two loft, fully functional cabin was built by NCSD high schoolers, and the project was 19 months in the making.

From Natrona County School District:

"Construction Teacher Rob Hill estimates over 100 students have worked on the cabin in one role or another. Casper College architecture students came up with the design of the cabin, and Hill’s students, many of whom have earned OSHA certifications while working on the cabin, have done everything else – except the plumbing and electrical work, which was performed by licensed contractors.

The cabin will be sold through a one-week open bid that begins on the evening of Thursday, April 19 at a campus-wide open house at P.I.C. at 5:00 p.m....The cabin’s opening bid will be $57,222 – which was the total cost of materials for the project.

Once the cabin sells, Hill’s Core Construction Class students will be on to their next construction project: a tiny house!"

NCSD says at the open house, you can learn more about the 16 different areas in which students can receive industry-level certifications.

According to NCSD, Pathways Innovation Center is a "21st Century learning facility where every student will be engaged in high-end pathways, and where advanced courses can be accessed. Career development will begin at the home schools at the 9th and 10th grade level. Students from ANY district high school will be prepared to take advantage of the pathways available at P.I.C.."
