Natrona County School District Superintendent Steve Hopkins will retire in June, according to a news release from the district's board of trustees on Tuesday.

The trustees announced that they would be recommending Michael Jennings as the next superintendent, and will act on that recommendation at its Aug. 26 meeting.

Jennings is the executive director of human resources and district services for the district.

This announcement and action provides ample time for a well-planned and seamless transition over the next year, according to the news release.
