Parents are encouraged to read to their children at least 20 minutes a day, and with the way technology is advancing...it may be becoming easier to read to them, and for them to learn how to read.

Recently the We Read program, in cooperation with the Natrona County Public Library and the Casper Star Tribune, launched a new smartphone and tablet app called we read.

The app features literacy related activities such as games, puzzles and story activities, designed to help children read at or above the third grade level, by the time they reach the end of the third grade.

Kale Pauli is a third grader at Willard Elementary School in Casper, and has helped test out the program for the past three years.

He explains why reading is important.

"Reading matters because if you didn't know how to read, you wouldn't be able to do tests and you wouldn't be able to do math and stuff, but now if you have the time to read, you become a greater reader and you become stronger at reading."
