Mills Man Denies Lighting Vehicle, Buildings on Fire
A Mills man appeared in Natrona County District Court on Friday and denied that he lit a truck on fire in April and a home in May.
Greg Lejune pleaded not guilty to two counts of arson. If convicted of both charges, he could face up to 20 years behind bars.
The first alleged incident occurred April 3 when Mills police responded to a reported vehicle fire. When the pickup was extinguished, firefighters listed the cause of the fire as undetermined.
Roughly a month later, Mills police and fire responded to a reported structure fire.
An investigation showed that "an open flame device such as a lighter" was the cause of the fire.
On May 24th, Mills police and fire were called to another structure fire. An investigation was inconclusive, but an open flame being the ignition source could not be ruled out.
According to the affidavit, as the investigation went on, police learned that Lejune was involved in four fires in Texas along with the fires in Mills.
In April, Lejune allegedly told a police detective that he was having financial difficulties and felt that not having a vehicle payment would help resolve those problems. The affidavit says Lejune told police that he figured he could blame his truck fire on whoever set the other fires in the community.
