A man who was reportedly looking at his cell phone while driving died and his passenger was injured in a rollover crash Saturday morning in Johnson County.

Scott Lawrence, 41, was wearing his seat belt but died at the scene, according to a crash report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred shortly before noon near Kaycee on I-25. Lawrence's passenger would later tell state troopers that Lawrence had been looking at his cell phone when he looked up, steered hard to the right and then over-corrected back to the left.

The Ford Explorer rolled some three and a half times, coming to rest on its roof.

The passenger had to be airlifted to Casper for medical treatment.

Weather was clear and the road surface was dry at the time of the crash, according to the Patrol.

Cell phone use is listed as a contributing factor in the crash.
