CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A proposal that would change the title of the University of Wyoming Board of Trustees president is making its way through the state Legislature.

Under House Bill 41, the trustees president title would be changed to chairman. The proposal was drafted at the behest of UW.

UW governmental relations director Meredith Asay says the current title causes confusion because both the leader of the trustees and UW's top administrator, Laurie Nichols, are titled president.

The bill easily passed the House on Jan. 16 and the Senate Education Committee unanimously signed off on it Monday, sending it to the full Senate for consideration.
