Online Poll: How Much Does An Endorsement By President Trump Influence Your Vote?
It's no secret that President Trump is deeply popular in Wyoming. In three presidential runs he has never failed to win two-thirds of the vote for president, In 2024 he racked up his strongest percentage ever, taking almost 72 percent of the vote.
That's probably no surprise in ruby-red Wyoming, which has not voted for a Democrat for president since 1964.
But even among Republicans historically speaking, Trump is especially popular in the Cowboy State. His 71.60 percentage in 2024 was the highest percentage of the vote for any presidential candidate in Wyoming in history.
Trump-Endorsed Candidates Usually Win In Wyoming
The president often endorses candidates for office in Wyoming, and they almost always win. For example, Harriet Hageman coasted to an easy win in the state's 2022 congressional race after being endorsed by Trump. She defeated incumbent Liz Cheney by a whopping 37 points in the GOP primary that year.
The one notable exception to the Trump=endorsed winning streak happened in 2022, when the Trump-endorsed candidate for Superintendent Brian Schroeder lost. Schroeder was defeated in the Republican Primary by Megan Degenfelder.
But Degenfelder won't have to overcome a Trump endorsement for her opponent in 2026. Trump recently endorsed her for governor of Wyoming, doing so before she even formally announced her campaign. On Monday she did just that, formally announcing her run.
Not surprisingly, her campaign Facebook page prominently mentions that she is ''Supported By President Donald J. Trump."
So does the president's endorsement of a candidate seal the deal for you? Is it a plus for a candidate but not the final word? Or do you tune out endorsements and make your own decision?
