UPDATE: Interstate 25 south from Cheyenne to the Colorado state line has now re-opened. The other travel restrictions mentioned in the article all remain in effect as of 2:30 P.M. Wednesday.

The Wyoming Department of Transportation has announced the closure of part of Interstate 25 and restrictions on US Highway 87 and Interstate 80 as strong winds and crashes make travel difficult.

WYDOT says I-25 is closed at milepost 4 in the southbound lanes from Cheyenne to the Colorado state line due to a crash. Motorists are being told to be prepared to stop and to expect delays. I-25 is also closed to light, high profile vehicles from the Colorado state line to exit 126 near Glendo because of extreme winds.

Interstate 80 is closed to light, high profile vehicles between Cheyenne and Laramie due to strong winds, and US highway 87 from the Colorado line to Glenrock is also closed to light, high profile vehicles.
