A busy day for security at Natrona County Schools Thursday.

According to a release from school officials, a student at Centennial Junior High reported a bomb threat written on a restroom mirror.

Casper Police were notified and following a threat assessment determined that no immediate danger existed, however as a precautionary measure, a building sweep was conducted.

After compiling facts, school officials and law enforcement determined the threat was a hoax.

The release from the district stated that, as with any terroristic threat - even a hoax - appropriate criminal charges and school district disciplinary action will result. The statement did not indicate if a suspect had been identified in the hoax.

Also on Thursday morning school officials at Kelly Walsh responded to reports of a high school student with a gun. That report ended with the student arrested. No one was hurt.

School officials state that due to recent events, there is heightened awareness by law enforcement and school security for the safety of students and staff and all threats will be investigated and taken seriously.
