United Blood Services is proud to once again partner with area law enforcement and fire fighters for the Annual Guns n’ Hoses Blood Drive Competition on August 20 from 1pm to 6pm at the blood center on East 2nd Street.

Team Law and Team Fire will be recruiting donors to donate on their behalf. The team that recruits the most blood donors will receive a traveling trophy and bragging rights. The winning team will also have a chance to “soak” the competition in a dunk tank at the end of the blood drive. Donors will receive a free Guns n’ Hoses T-shirt, can register for prizes including a fire pit, and could even win a trip for two to Hawaii in a summer-long giveaway.

Justin Irish, Donor Recruitment Representative, United Blood Services said,

“As first responders, these agencies know the need for blood donors every day and they have been instrumental in helping educate the community on that ongoing need, we encourage the community to stop out and make a donation, particularly if you have never given before because we always need more Heroes to make a difference.”

To save time, donors can now fill out their Health History Questionnaire online at www.unitedbloodservices.org the day of their donation. To donate blood, volunteers must be at least 16 years old (16 year old donors need a minor donor permit which is available at the blood drive or online) and be in good health.
