Fire Near Douglas Prompts Evacuations

A massive grass fire near Douglas on Sunday prompted the evacuation of some residents, and led to the closures of some roads in the area.

The fire started near Interstate 25 west of Douglas. Fire officials say Highway 93 was closed, but Highway 87 and I-25 were open. Strong winds helped spread the fire, which had consumed several hundred acres by late Sunday afternoon.
