An event promoters call the “Rose Bowl of College Rodeo” will return to Casper in just over three weeks.

The 2013 College National Finals Rodeo is scheduled for June 9-15 at the Casper Events Center.

Aaron McCreight, the CEO of the Casper Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, says the relationship between the city of Casper and the CNFR is strong. He says CNFR promoters recently signed a 10-year contract to continue hosting the event in Casper.

McCreight also says the CNFR has raised the event-hosting profile of the city of Casper.

“Nobody wants to be a guinea pig – nobody wants to be first,” McCreight said. “But I can tell (other event promoters) that we host a college national championship – it’s the CNFR, and we’ve had it for 12 or 13 years – we obviously do it well enough to where the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association said, ‘You know what? We don’t want to leave.’”

McCreight says Casper was recently selected to host the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Volleyball Tournament through 2015.

The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association will continue hosting the CNFR in Casper through 2022.
