Cheyenne National Weather Service Office Issues Statement
"Strong West winds are expected to once again develop across much of southeast Wyoming on Thursday. These winds will develop earlier in the day near Rawlins, and late this afternoon or this evening further east around the I-25 corridor. Wind gusts of 60 to 70 mph are likely in the Warned area and may create dangerous travel conditions for lightweight and high profile vehicles, including camping trailers and RVs. Another round of strong winds, this time out of the North, are expected on Friday for the same areas across the eastern plains. Additionally, strong gusty winds will combine with warm and dry conditions to create a risk of wildfires along and east of Interstate 25 in southeast Wyoming this afternoon. Outdoor burning is not recommended!"
Interstate 25 southbound from Cheyenne was closed for part of the day on Wednesday, and other highways in the area had restrictions on light, high profile vehicles. You can access the latest Wyoming Road and Travel report here.
