Casper City Council Makes Leadership Nominations

Casper City Council has made its leadership nominations for next year.

“Steven Cathey and Charlie Powell nominated themselves for vice mayor, and Paul Meyer and Daniel Sandoval nominated themselves for mayor,” current Casper mayor Kenyne Schlager said.

Schlager says a straw-pull vote is next. She says the informal vote will occur prior to council’s next regular meeting on Dec. 17.

“Council members will vote for the leadership they want, those votes will be counted, and a tentative set of leadership will be set forth,” Schlager said. “Then, during our first meeting in January, we’ll have our official vote and the swearing in.”

Traditionally, after the new vice mayor is selected, Schlager says the current vice mayor progresses to the position of mayor. Paul Meyer is the city’s current vice mayor.
