The body of a Cheyenne man missing since January was found Sunday in eastern Albany County.

Brent Dougherty, 35, was last seen alive on Jan. 21, when he was walking down the Blair Wallis road near the rest area on the I-80 summit.

Heavy snow and strong winds in the days following his disappearance made search efforts difficult, Albany County Undersheriff Josh DeBree said in a statement Monday.

DeBree said that deputies were dispatched to the area after the body was found Sunday. However, he did not provide more information regarding the circumstances under which the body was discovered.

A cause of death has not been determined and an autopsy has been scheduled, DeBree added. The investigation into Dougherty's death remains active.

DeBree said that more information would be released when it becomes available.
