Black Hills Crash Kills 3, Seriously Injures 1
LEAD, S.D. (AP) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol says three people died when the driver of a 1957 Chevrolet lost control of the car and collided with another vehicle.
The accident happened Friday afternoon 23 miles south of Lead. The patrol says the Chevrolet driven by 28-year-old Jennifer Ann Werts left the roadway onto the shoulder and swerved back over the centerline where it struck a 2003 Acura.
Werts, of Torrington, Wyo., and her passenger, 38-year-old Andrew Eugene Tollman, of Lusk, Wyo., died at the scene. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.
Also killed in the accident was 66-year-old Patricia Smith Sunde, of Turlock, Calif., who was a passenger in the Acura. The driver of that car, 68-year-old Tracy A. Sunde, received serious non-life threatening injuries.
Both occupants in the Acura were wearing seatbelts.
