Big Rally Keeps Casper Alive in NW Regional Tournament
The Casper Oilers American Legion baseball team erupted for 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to beat Juneau, Alaska 9-8 in an elimination game at the Northwest Regional in Lewiston, Idaho. The Oilers scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 7th and trailed 8-3 entering the final inning of play. State Tournament MVP Corbin Kirk drove in 4 runs in the game with 2 doubles. The Oilers had just 6 hits in the game but Juneau also made 3 errors. Casper is now 46-17 and will be in another loser-out game on Friday afternoon at 1:30 against either Bozeman, Montana or Kennewick, Washington. Wyoming is one of four states never to send a team to the American Legion World Series.
