The Wyoming Highway Patrol has released the name of the man who died Sunday after being thrown from a motorcycle west of Casper.

Donald Mulvey, 65, was a Wyoming resident, according to a WHP crash report. He was wearing a helmet, but died as he was being taken by ambulance to Wyoming Medical Center, the Patrol says.

Natrona County Coroner Connie Jacobson says Mulvey was pronounced dead at the Wyoming Medical Center emergency room at roughly 1 p.m.

The crash occurred at roughly 12:50 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of U.S. 20/26 and the U.S. 20/26 bypass.

According to the report, Mulvey was southbound on the bypass and stopped his motorcycle at the red light. When the light turned green, he began to proceed through the intersection.

However, witnesses told investigators, a white Chrysler minivan that was westbound on U.S. 20/26 failed to stop for a red light and went into the intersection, hitting Mulvey's motorcycle.

Mulvey was thrown from the bike. The two people inside the minivan were not injured.

State troopers are investigating driver inattention as a possible contributing factor.

Weather was clear and the road surface was dry at the time of the crash, per the report.
