9-Year-Old Dead After ATV Crash in Southwest Wyoming

The Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a nine-year-old died from injuries suffered in an ATV rollover Saturday.

Reported on Chilton Road in the area of Killpecker Sand Dunes, the single-vehicle crash occurred at roughly 10:30 p.m.

The sheriff's office said Monday that a 2008 Arctic Cat 550 was traveling south on Chilton when, for unknown reasons, the ATV left the road to the right and overturned on an embankment.

The nine-year-old driver was not wearing a helmet and was thrown off of the ATV during the rollover. The child was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County, where they later died.

The sheriff's office did not release further details in its statement Monday morning.
