Wyoming Inmate Dies of Illness in Prison
An inmate who was being held at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution in Torrington died Sunday due to a lengthy illness, according to a statement from the Wyoming Department of Corrections.
Department spokesman Mark Horan says 81-year-old Gene T. Wigfield was serving a 25- to 30-year sentence for attempted second-degree murder. Wigfield was sentenced Dec. 15, 1998 by Big Horn County District Court Judge Gary P. Hartman.
An autopsy has been ordered per departmental policy.
