Natrona County authorities arrested 13 people who allegedly drove while intoxicated during the weekend of St. Patrick's Day 2018, with no serious or fatal crashes reported in the county during that time period.

During the three days of March 16-18, law enforcement made 222 traffic stops and issued 25 speeding tickets, six seat belt tickets, 74 other citations and 114 warnings.

Pete Abrams, law enforcement liaison for WYDOT, said in a statement that the St. Patrick's weekend operation was the third of at least six planned traffic enforcement operations in Natrona County for 2018.

The next such operation is set for May.

The goal, Abrams says, is to reduce fatal crashes in Natrona County by cracking down on impaired driving and seat belt violations.

Authorities aim to emphasize a zero-tolerance stance on impaired driving, as well as a commitment to seat belt enforcement.
