Crews recently completed work replacing a decaying bridge below Alcova Dam.

The Natrona County Board of Commissioners announced the completion of the new bridge on County Road 407. The bridge is receiving all traffic not exceeding legal load limits, according to a press release.

Kortes Road crosses the North Platte River and provides access to Alcova and Pathfinder reservoirs along with the Miracle Mile.

It cost an estimated $3.9 million to build the new bridge.

In 2015, a state engineer's report cited problems with the old bridge beginning to decay. Traffic on the bridge was temporarily limited to 12 tons.

Prior to the new bridge being completed, traffic on the old structure was limited to one lane.
