A woman apparently died in a fire in Mills early Monday, according to news releases from the Mills Fire Department and the Natrona County Coroner's Office.
Five agencies responded to the report of the fire and possibly two people in the structure in the 4200 block of West Yellowstone Highway about 3 a.m., according to the news releases.
When they arrived, they saw a Mills Police officer pulling one victim from the structure, and they unsuccessfully attempted to find the second victim.
The crews fought the blaze for about 30 minutes until it was out. After that, crews found the second victim and she was dead.
The rescued victim was taken to the Wyoming Medical Center for further treatment. One firefighter and one police officer were evaluated for minor injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the Mills Police Department.
The coroner's office is investigating the cause and manner of death of the female, and it will identify her upon notification of the family.
Besides this fire, the Mills Fire Department, Natrona County Fire Protection District and Mills Police Department responded to another structure fire at the 500 block of North Second Avenue in Mills early Monday.
Upon arrival, crews found and put out the active fire under the skirting of a mobile home. There was no further damage to the exterior of the home, nor was there damage to the interior.
Investigators found this fire possibly to be caused by faulty electrical wiring or electrical heat tape. The home was returned to the owners and no further investigative efforts were needed.
Other agencies involved with these fires included the Casper Fire Department and the Natrona County Sheriff's Office.
