He symbolized University of Wyoming rodeo for two decades and a tribute was staged over the weekend for George Howard. He was a highly respected coach throughout college rodeo and spent more than half his life molding young people. Howard died in a gun accident last fall. Central Rocky Mountain Region rodeo teams competed in the Hansen Teaching Arena just west of Laramie over the weekend. It is a place that will long remind a generation of UW students and rodeo athletes of their beloved coach who enjoyed team roping earning more than a few buckles, and a lot of friends.
