"Firefighters were advised by responding Officers of the presence of suspicious packages containing an unknown product found in a residential structure," the release stated.
According to Casper resident Janice Dvarishkis Miech, her granddaughter's cat is typically an indoor cat. But the cat got out of the house yesterday and immediately began scaling a large tree.
Casper Fire-EMS credits functioning smoke alarms connected to a third-party security system for their prompt notification to firefighters - because of this, firefighters were able to quickly locate and extinguish the small amount of fire with minimal damage and disruption to homeowners.
"Unfortunately, 2 goats, 4 ducks and 16 chickens were lost due to the fire," the NCFD wrote. "One civilian was evaluated and released by ambulance personnel on scene for minor injuries.
Casper Fire-EMS recently announced two promotions of personnel that have been a major part of the department, and will continue to do so in their new roles.
