The Sweetwater County Commission on Tuesday voted to lower all flags at county facilities to half-staff to honor a former resident and a fellow police officer who were gunned down in Las Vegas on Sunday.

Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department spokesman Dick Blust says Officer Alyn Beck was a former Green River resident who wrestled for for Green River High School. He is survived by a wife and three children. Fellow Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Igor Soldo, who was also slain, leaves behind a wife and a baby.

The killers of the two officers were a man and wife who also murdered a third person. They died as the result of an apparent suicide pact not long after the killings.

The commission hasn't decided how long the flags will continue to be flown at half-staff, but it will be at least until the officers funerals.
