A Casper man will avoid jail time after admitting he assaulted his neighbor.

Thirty-five year old Stephen Koch was given a four-to-six year suspended prison sentence, with three years of probation, after pleading guilty to one charge of aggravated assault.

Police say in late June, Koch was in the process of moving, when he thought one of his neighbors was laughing at him and also thought the neighbor was sleeping with his wife.

Prosecutors say Koch went over and swung a pipe at the victim.

The attack was blocked, but the victim suffered a broken hand as a result.

Several witnesses and Koch’s wife say that Koch had been drinking prior to the incident and he had a blood alcohol content of 0.16.

He has also been ordered to pay more than $4,800 in restitution.
