Shriner’s Vidalia Onion Sale, Circus In Casper
For many, it's a sure sign that spring is here. It's the annual Vidalia Sweet Onion Sale, brought to you by the Casper Shrine Club. More than 18,000 pounds of the sweet onions are up for sale this year with this unique fundraiser, with ten pounds bags going for $15.00, starting Monday, May 14th. With each bag, you'll also get recipes for delicious goodies along with handy storage tips.
They'll open the garage at the Shrine Club at 39th and Coffman (behind the Sunrise Shopping Center) from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. starting Monday, May 14th, and will continue the schedule until all the onions are gone. But don't wait too long, they're a hot commodity. "We have people that every year are waiting and wanting their Vidalia Onions," says Craig Warner with the Casper Shrine Club. "They just fly out the door at the Shrine Club".
Warner says they'll also pack up a truck to take to Glenrock on Wednesday, May 16th, and they'll be downtown from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. "We usually take a thousand pounds down there and we usually come back empty," he says.
Also on Monday, the annual Shrine Club Circus comes to town at the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds. There will be two shows, one at 4:00pm and the other at 7:00pm. Kids attend free, adult tickets are $10.00. One girl's bike and one boy's bike to be given away at during each show.
