Red Flag Warning, Critical Fire Weather for Casper Area Thursday
The National Weather Service says low humidities, high temperatures and strong winds may lead to new fires in the Casper area Thursday.
A red flag warning is in effect from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. The Casper Fire-EMS Department reminds people that no outdoor burning or other recreational burning is allowed while the warning is in effect.
Temperatures in the upper 80s and lower 90s are expected with winds gusting up to 35-40 mph and humidity as low as 10 percent.
The hot, dry conditions are ideal for fire starts.
Cooler, wetter conditions thus far in 2019 have pushed back the fire season, but the potential for wildfire is always a concern.
