Porambo to Run as Libertarian for U.S. Senate
A Casper independent running for U.S. Senate says he now intends to run as a Libertarian this November.
Joe Porambo says he made the decision earlier this week.
“Trying to achieve 10,000 signatures probably wasn’t going to occur, so I looked over the platform of the Libertarian Party and pretty much agreed with everything in the platform,” Porambo said.
The 54-year-old registered Republican made the initial announcement to run for Sen. Mike Enzi's seat in early April.
He was the fourth person to announce his candidacy for the position, preceded by Democrat Charlie Hardy of Cheyenne, Republican Thomas Bleming of Lusk and independent Curt Gottshall of Laramie.
Enzi, a Republican, announced his candidacy for re-election last year.
