UPDATE (10:45 a.m.):

A man was taken to Wyoming Medical Center after a shooting at a home in the 1700 block of South Washington early Monday morning.

Detective John Hatcher of the Casper Police Department says the suspected shooter is in custody, though it was unclear whether the man had been arrested.

The names and ages of both the victim and the suspected shooter have not been released.

There is no threat to the community. Hatcher calls it "a rapidly-evolving investigation."

Someone called police around 1:40 a.m. to report shots had been fired. Officers arrived on scene and found a man who had suffered a gunshot wound. He was taken to Wyoming Medical Center.

Officers found the only shooting suspect -- a man -- fairly quickly after the shooting. He was not at the home when officers found him, but was in the vicinity.

Investigators believe there was only one shooter, but Hatcher says more than one shot was fired, adding that it was unclear whether the shooting happened inside the home.

The front windows of the home were broken out, but it was not clear why.

We will update this story as we learn more.
