LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Two Laramie police officers involved in the shooting and wounding of a 26-year-old man earlier this month have been cleared to return to work.

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation's preliminary findings of the Aug. 15 incident determined that the Laramie officers acted within the scope of their duties and according to the law.

The Associated Press reports that DCI's final report will be completed in four-six weeks and turned over the Albany County Attorney's office for review.

The officers were placed on administrative leave after the shooting.

The man who was shot, Kevin R. Cook, of Laramie, remained in a Colorado hospital where he is being treated for gunshot wounds.

Police say Cook faces charges of aggravated assault on an officer, arson and auto burglary.
