Landslide Closes Part of Wyoming Oil and Gas Field
WORLAND, Wyo. (AP) — A landslide has closed part of an oil and gas field in northwestern Wyoming.
It happened on public land Thursday on the Washakie-Hot Springs county line northeast of Thermopolis. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management estimates the landside involved some 10 acres to a depth of 20-30 feet.
The landslide destroyed a road to nine wells. Oilfield workers who saw the slide in progress shut in the wells to prevent any spills.
