A National Championship Sporting event will return to Casper.

The National Junior College Athletic Association Division One Volleyball National Championship Tournament will be played in Casper in November 2016.

Originally, there a three-year agreement for Casper to host the event, and that agreement had expired after the 2015 tournament, but the NJCAA extended the agreement for at least one more year.

Marci Henry is the Division One Volleyball Chair-Woman and says other than some weather concerns, attendance for the tournament has gone up in each of the past three years, and that's because the event has been very well run.

"I think what's happened to the attendance is people in the community and the outlying areas have realized that we have a first rate event that's happening right here in Casper, and I think by word of mouth, people have come to know this is worth the money to come and see."

The College of Southern Idaho defeated Western Nebraska Community College, to win the 2015 National Championship.
