Hageman Highlights ICE Arrests in Wyoming
“Dangerous illegal aliens are being removed from our streets in Wyoming, thanks to ICE enforcement.”
That was the message from Congresswoman Harriet Hageman this week, posted on her social media page alongside a link to the Department of Homeland Security’s “Worst of the Worst” portal. The portal, which tracks arrests of dangerous criminals nationwide, gave Hageman a chance to shine a spotlight on those apprehended right here in the Cowboy State.
Some Wyoming residents were thrilled. Stacey Nystul Quick wrote, “This IS what I voted for.” Gil Hendricks cheered, “Go get ‘em ICE!! WAHOOO!” And Pamela Gail Dean Beisner got personal: “Thank you beyond words and measure for keeping my family safe in my home in Wyoming.”
But not everyone felt the same. Amber Sparks fired back, “Propaganda is where it’s at for liars in office…” while Anthony R. McConnell quipped, “With rap sheets like that, I’m surprised ICE isn’t recruiting them.”
It wasn’t long before some people decided to dig into the numbers themselves. Maria S. Goodman noticed something that gave her pause: “Some of these cases aren’t even in America. DHS is portraying it as if they were here, but a number of these people were arrested in their own countries.”
Others, though, found the portal alarming in a way that made them feel safer. Amita L’olamVa’ed reported, “The day I checked, there were 40 on the list for my state. Three, just three, had the simple charge of ‘illegal re-entry.’ The rest? One or many serious criminal charges—from cruelty to a child to drug offenses. I can honestly say our communities will be safer without those individuals.”
Hageman’s post—and the heated discussion that followed—underscores the split in Wyoming over immigration enforcement. For some, it’s a reassurance that dangerous people are being removed. For others, it’s a reminder to question the numbers, the narrative, and how the data is presented.
Either way, the conversation is happening online, and the walls of social media are echoing with debate, outrage, and applause—Wyoming-style.
