
It’s Finally Halloween Season Around Wyoming
It's officially Fall, and we're about a month away from Halloween, and some people have already been giving thought to their costumes for this year. Shoot, the Spirit of Halloween store has been open at the Eastridge Mall for quite some time.
According to information released by Staista earlier this year, 20% of people will purchase their Halloween costumes 15 to 21 days before the holiday, and 14% get their costumes more than 30 days in advance. That's commitment.
When I was a kid, we didn't have the extra money to buy Halloween costumes, so we did with what we had lying around the house. One year, my brother went as a Q-tip. Mom found a box and painted it blue and white, glued cotton balls onto a swim cap, and painted his face ghost white.
The Halloween costumes that people wore before Hollywood influenced the choices of what was considered the most popular look, which were outright spooky. Actually, they were what nightmares are made of, think Jason, Freddie, or Michael Myers on steroids.
Costumes in 2025 look nothing like they did in those pictures. Now, it's Cinderella, Superheroes, cartoon characters, or TV and Movie characters. Some people get so into Halloween that they'll have multiple costumes to wear to various occasions.
It's crazy to think that Halloween began as a celebration to welcome the harvest, and people wore costumes to ward off ghosts, and now it's a $12 billion a year industry.
