A laid back trip home from Jackson, turned into an exciting adventure for a dad and his daughter from Casper.

Driving home from Jackson, Casper wildlife artist Justin Hayward and his daughter Lauren were on the road, about half way between Jackson and Dubois, when Justin spotted a bear. The father/ daughter duo, pulled over to grab a photo and watch the magnificent female grizzly.

The bear acted like she didn't even notice them at first, then all of a sudden she broke into a dead sprint toward the car.

Luckily Justin and Lauren were smart and remained in the vehicle and were just observing the bear.

Justin told me:

When it charged, it came over the burm and stopped about 15 yards from our car. It was pretty awesome. Wish I didn't drop my phone

Watching the video will give you quite the pucker factor, but know they were safe and not instigating trouble with the sow. There are people that get upset when they don't get to see wildlife like this, you just have to be in the right place at the right time. There's no doubt that Justin and Lauren were in the right place.

Being a wildlife artist, you are always looking for the perfect inspiration for your next piece, I foresee a nice charging bear piece coming from Justin soon.

In our conversation, Justin says that wildlife art is fairly new, but things have been going great.

I just got into painting animals about 5-6 years ago. I've won the conservation stamp competition a few times, including this year. It has been fun.
