Fremont County Expects 10,000 Eclipse Visitors
RIVERTON, Wyo. (AP) — Fremont County landowners will not need permits to rent out their property to campers during the solar eclipse in August.
County planner Steve Baumann says the county has no authority to require permits because there is no zoning outside the county's municipalities.
The Fremont County Commission had considered requiring permits in order to ensure that police can plan accordingly in case of an emergency.
Fremont County is a prime viewing area for the full solar eclipse set to pass over the United States on Aug. 21, and local officials have estimated that the event will attracted about 10,000 people to the county for the event.
Natrona County has announced it will require permits for landowners who want to rent out their land to campers during the solar eclipse.
