A pickup truck was demolished after being stuck by a freight train Thursday evening in Granger. According to a release from the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office, Granger resident Raymond T. Wolfley, 78, was on his way home in his 2007 Chevrolet flatbed pickup when he became hung up on the railroad crossing at the intersection of First and Pine Streets.

A passerby tried to help Wolfley, and as the they were trying to use another vehicle to pull the pickup off the tracks, a train approached and Wolfley abandoned his pickup before the collision.

Sweetwater County Sheriff's got the call at about 7pm. The release says that the Union Pacific Engineer reported the train was going about 65mph when he saw the pickup and initiated procedures for an emergency stop, but there wasn't sufficient time to avoid a collision.

There were no injuries reported and the accident is still under investigation.
