Five Casper Police Officers Promoted; Casper Child Recognized For Assistance
The Casper Police Department has boosted its ranks.
Chief Jim Wetzel recently promoted five officers, two of them to the rank of Captain, two to them to the rank of Lieutenant, and one to the rank of Sergeant.
Wetzel says when he took over the department more than four months ago, he felt some re-organization was need with the department, which included adding a second Captain to the force.
"With some of the directions I want to take the department as far as our community affairs, and various programs that would fall under the service support realm, it was important that I think we establish the requisite rank over there with the Captain's position to manage that position."
Chief Wetzel also recognized 7-year old Nathan Kerns, who assisted police officers with traffic control, during a possible bomb scare, that happened near the intersection of 15th and Beverly Streets, last month.
