Firefighters Begin to Control Wyoming Wildfire
LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Firefighters are beginning to get a handle on a wildfire in the mountains of southeast Wyoming.
The fire has burned about four square miles of Medicine Bow National Forest south of Centennial but as of Friday was about 25 percent contained.
Firefighters are taking advantage of the weather and wind patterns to conduct burnout operations. They are deliberately burning certain areas to create barriers to keep the fire from growing later.
The fire is threatening about two dozen cabins and a campground which remain evacuated.
