On Tuesday, November 29th, the holiday season will become a little more special for some special athletes.

It's the annual Festival of Trees Event at the Casper Boys and Girls Club.

The event is the biggest fundraiser for Special Olympics Wyoming, as more than 2 dozen decorated trees will be auctioned off.

The money goes towards the various athletic events that the Special Olympians compete in several times per year.

Erin Gamroth with Special Olympics Wyoming says the program is built on a platform of sports, but it's much more than that.

Gamroth: "We teach people about inclusion and acceptance and tolerance of people that are different than us and give people opportunities to volunteer and to make their community better and that all starts on the ground level with providing our athletes with an opportunity to compete and to really work hard to let their parents see them succeed and feel that joy and cheer them on."

The Festival of Trees event starts at 6 pm at the Boys and Girls Club.

Tickets are $50 a person or $75 for a couple and can be purchased at any Casper-area Jonah Bank, First Interstate Bank, The Casper Boys and Girls Club, The Special Olympics Wyoming Office, or via The Special Olympics Website by clicking HERE!
