A Monday morning explosion at an oil storage site near Glenrock has killed three people. Deadly explosion in Converse County:

According to a Samson Resources Company release from the Converse County Sheriff's office, the explosion and subsequent fire happened about 10 am and the three people who died were contract workers. The names have not been released.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene and the fire was brought under control. The Converse County Sheriff's Office has secured the site for safety and an emergency response team from Samson is going to the site to help investigate the accident.

According to the media release from Samson, Phil Schmucker, senior vice president of operations, said they will assist local, state and federal officials in the investigation of the accident.

Mr. Schmucker also expressed condolences saying, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of those who died in this accident."
